A Brief History of Our Journey in Portland
For those new to our story, Linen Society’s roots in Portland’s Pearl District began in 1996 as French Quarter Linens. The district has come a long way from its early days when warehouses stood beside art galleries and a few pioneering restaurants. Back then, our original store was a warm, inviting space with historic charm—characterized by high ceilings, worn wood floors, and exposed brick—that echoed the unique atmosphere of the neighborhood. Over time, as the Pearl District evolved with the addition of upscale condominiums, local boutiques, and national retailers, our store has remained a beacon for those seeking quality, luxury, and a welcoming, low-pressure shopping experience.
In 2013, we expanded our Portland presence by acquiring Manor Fine Wares, a boutique known for its focus on stylish home furnishings and accessories. While French Quarter Linens maintained a focus on luxury bedding and linens, Manor introduced a wider selection of home decor, which allowed us to offer a more complete lifestyle environment to our Portland customers.
A New Vision in a New Space
As both stores grew and evolved, we recognized the need to simplify our approach. Running two locations in close proximity required extensive effort, and we wanted to streamline the experience for our customers as well. Our general manager, Katherine, brought a vision of integration to life by securing a prime new location in the Pearl District. With her expertise and leadership, we navigated the complex process of combining two stores, a warehouse, wholesale offices, and our online business into a unified flagship complex.
Our new location at 1225 NW Everett Street beautifully represents this vision. The store brings together the full range of our luxurious bedding, towels, and textiles, alongside a curated selection of Manor’s best furniture, accessories, and jewelry. Designed with spacious, well-lit displays and thoughtfully arranged product categories, the store reflects the quality and beauty we’re committed to offering.
